  A few days back I found myself on Dr. Ryan’s dentist’s chair. I belong to a large group (I suspect) of adult men who when it comes to dental work, lose any resemblance of calm and logic and simply dread the experience (Probably due to childhood trauma which sustained itself through many dentists). I am not kidding, tell me I need to go to the dentist for any reason at all, and the knot in my stomach wakes up and says “hello friend”. Well, I’ve found the dentist that put a stop to that! Wow! From the moment my wife and I walked into Dr. Ryan’s office in Sparta the experience was profoundly different. The office is high end and beautiful, but the people are even more so, beginning with Marietta, who was the utmost professional, kind, and understanding when setting up the appointment. Dr. Ryan is simply on another level of dentistry. Easily leagues above any dentist I’ve visited before, definitely a “big league” dentist. From the moment we shook hands, I knew I was indeed in good hands. Dr. Ryan exudes confidence, calmness, and compassion, and those are matched by his competence. UNBELIEVABLE! I had an extraction (is there any scarier dental procedure?) and an implant placed at the same appointment. If I tell you ZERO pain, would you believe me? If I tell you that for the first time in thirty five years I didn’t “white knuckle” the chair, would you know what I mean? Coming out of the procedure, both my wife and the administrative assistant looked at me with raised eyebrows and asked: “Are you smiling?” I think I have finally had a “corrective experience”. I used to say that dentistry is a thankless career. Well, Dr. Ryan, here is one big thank you! I whole heartedly recommend Dr. Ryan and his staff. We will definitely be back.   I never thought that I would be able to rekindle my faith in dentists. That is, not until I met Dr Jonathan and his wonderful Staff at the Sparta location of The Center for Dental Excellence. While I like to think that I am fairly intelligent individual, it had been far too many years since I had visited a dentist, or at least gotten past the initial examination. All of this, unfortunately was due to a traumatic experience which had stayed with me through the years. Dr. Jonathan certainly had his work cut out for himself when we agreed to move forward to what would be total reconstruction of my dental work and ultimately has provided me with the confidence to smile openly and often. He and his staff went above and beyond to accomplish this with a modicum of trauma on my part, and even set aside a Sunday to do all of the work at once. Dental pain can be mind-numbing bur admittedly, after all the significant work done, I was able to cope with just a few Advils for a day or two thereafter. My friends are amazed and compliments are still coming my way. I wondered why I hadn't done this before, but then I recognized that I hadn't found the right dentist until Dr. Jonathan! I shall always be indebted to him and his staff - they have certainly brought a smile to my face!
